Steven Bierschenk is a Managing Director at Paine Schwartz Partners.
Mr. Bierschenk has more than 30 years of management experience in the life sciences and agribusiness industries driving growth and creating operational value. From 2000 until the recent acquisition by Bayer AG, he held a variety of senior management positions at Monsanto. During this time, Mr. Bierschenk led marketing and business development efforts within animal agriculture. He then served as the lead in field seeds for the company’s biotechnology trait business and commercial license operations. Following Monsanto’s acquisition of Fund II portfolio company, Seminis, he engineered the substantial restructuring and integration with several other vegetable seed businesses into a single, more profitable global leader. He also led competitive intelligence and strategy, long-term strategy development, and engaged in a range of M&A activities within Monsanto’s Global Strategy team, including the sale to, and integration planning with, Bayer AG. Prior to Monsanto, Mr. Bierschenk worked for Procter & Gamble from 1992 to 2000, where he held a number of brand management and customer marketing positions within the pharmaceuticals and healthcare category. Before Procter & Gamble, he spent his early career in the animal genetics industry.
Mr. Bierschenk currently serves on the board of Advanced Agrilytics. He was raised in rural Iowa and is a graduate from Iowa State University (Bachelor of Science) and Syracuse University (MBA).
